1. Who is eligible to apply for an LTVP in Singapore?

The LTVP is mainly available for three groups: spouses or parents of Singapore Citizens/PRs, and family members accompanying international students. Employment Pass holders earning above SGD 12,000/month may also apply for their parents.

2. How long is the LTVP valid?

Typically, an LTVP for parents of a Singapore Citizen is valid for 5 years, while for PRs is 3 years. For spouses, the validity ranges from 1–3 years. For EP/SP holders applying for parents, the LTVP validity follows the work pass duration.

3. Can LTVP holders work in Singapore?

Generally no. However, spouses of Singapore Citizens/PRs may apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC) from MOM, which allows them to work easily. Parents, on the other hand, must apply for a work visa such as WP or SP, which is harder to obtain. The LTVP’s purpose is mainly family reunion, not employment.

4. What is LTVP+?

LTVP+ (Long-Term Visit Pass Plus) is an enhanced version of the standard LTVP. It is exclusively for foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens, offering longer validity (typically 3 years), access to government medical subsidies, easier job applications, and smoother transitions to PR or citizenship. Approval usually depends on the couple’s stability, income, and qualifications.

5. Can I apply for LTVP for my parents-in-law?

No. You may only apply for your own biological parents under current ICA regulations.
