1. What is a relevant document indicating that a COC is required and the purpose of the COC?
For example, if you apply for a US Green Card, the US Immigration office's review letter requires police certificates from all countries where you lived more than 6 months. That letter serves as the proof. Similarly, when applying for work or study visas for other countries, any official written document mentioning police clearance from the local reviewing agency can serve as proof.
2. Can I apply for a police clearance certificate without a copy of my pass?
Providing a copy of the pass is mandatory. If you cannot find it, you need to provide other documents showing your pass number, such as the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter, tax returns during your stay, employment contract, rental agreement, bank statements, school ID, or transcripts, along with an explanation. If none of these work, you may request assistance from the ICA or MOM.
3. Can I apply for a police clearance certificate if I previously held multiple-entry tourist or business visas with a cumulative stay over 6 months?
No. Only holders of Singapore long-term passes (such as work, student, or dependent passes) are eligible. Multiple-entry tourist or business visas are short-term and do not qualify.
4. Why has my police clearance application been pending for over 2 weeks?
According to our statistics, the Singapore Police process over 100 police clearance applications daily, resulting in heavy workloads. If it has been over 2 weeks with no result, we will assist in contacting the police for you.
5. Why do I only receive an electronic version of the police clearance certificate and not a printed original? How can I verify its authenticity?
Starting Jan 2025, Singapore Police Clearance Certificates are fully digital with no printed originals issued. You can print the received PDF yourself and verify the authenticity via the QR code on the back. Verification can be done by visiting the Singapore Government Document Platform and scanning the QR code.
6. If my previous Singapore police clearance certificate has expired, do I need to provide fingerprints again for reapplication?
If it has been more than 6 months, you must provide fingerprints again. If you have a Singapore Singpass and can still log in, fingerprint submission may be waived.
